Outreach

SASA Texas Advocacy Conference

Our team represented Texas robotics at the Student Association for STEM Advocacy (SASA) National Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C as well as the Texas Advocacy Conference here in Houston. We met with Dr. Lalani, Tony Flores and Aaron Burgess to advocate for increased STEM and robotics funding through Title IV of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This experience allowed us to amplify student voices at the national level and directly influence STEM education policy impacting thousands of students across Texas.

TXRX x Code Ninjas

Our team organized and led an after-class STEM workshop at a local Code Ninjas center for 10 Girl Scouts from the community. We introduced them to FTC and also brought members of the Elkins VEX team to give the girls exposure to both major competitive robotics pathways. During the event, they learned engineering basics, explored real competition robots, built their own mini-robots, and earned official STEM achievement certificates. This workshop helped boost confidence in STEM and inspire the next generation of young female engineers.

Jan Schiff Elementary

Our team partnered with Code Ninjas to teach students about AI and FLL. We demonstrated competition robots, taught foundational engineering concepts, and guided students through hands-on activities. The highlight of the event was a live-action video game, played using a motion-sensing raft connected to custom Code Ninjas software created by one of our student coders (whom we mentored). Through this event, students learned, explored, and engaged with real robotics and AI concepts in a fun, immersive way.

Outreach & Events

Cornerstone Elementary CCFFN 2024

We collaborated with RoboSapiens Nano Trojans, and The Powerbreakers at the Cornerstone Elementary CCFFN 2024 event on April 19th to showcase our robots and introduce FTC and FLL to many students at Cornerstone. This was our second time showcasing our robots at CCFFN

Visit to HCC Lab

Our team visited the Houston Community College Laboratory and learned about the art of 3D printing and Laser Cutters. We gained valuable information about the various softwares and machines used in order to print or cut different materials and met with NASA scientists who shared their input and gave us feedback about our robot!

Season Starter Meeting

We held a meet at the beginning of the season to walk kids through our past season experiences and showcase our robot. We talked about how to join FTC and how to get started with your robot.

Houston Food Bank

Our team volunteered at the Houston food bank on May 29th. The Houston Food Bank is a non-profit organization that delivers meals to low-income families all over Texas. Our 3 hours of service contributed to 6,022 meals for the hungry.

BUC Days: Corpus Christi

BUC Days is a 1-2 week event in Corpus Christi. Our team showcased our robot to 31 different FTC teams and participated in the Robot Rodeo on a 2-day trip to Corpus Christy. Here, we matched against other FTC teams and ranked #18th (top twenty).
